An
all-season hill resort, Pachmarhi nestles in Satpura
ranges with its enchanting forest glades, giggling ravines
and fascinating wildlife. It has its archaelogical assets
too. There are rock paintings, said to be dating back to
thousands of years, in the caves of Mahadeo hills.
Pachmarhi was
discovered in 1857 by a Bengali lancer. The British
developed it as a hillresort. A church built by them is a
colourful legacy. The location has been named
Priyadarshini Point. Handi Khoh is an attractive ravine
area. Apsara Vihar is a popular bathing pool. A trek over
Rajat Pratap is an adventure of sorts. Duchess Fall is the
most beautiful waterfall in Pachmarhi. Not far is
Saunder's Pool, good for swimming.
